We are looking for a dynamic and hands-on Warehouse Supervisor to join our Warehouse & Logistics team. This role will play a key part in ensuring safe, compliant and efficient warehouse operations and material flows to support manufacturing and quality activities at the site.
About the Role
The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for leading day-to-day warehouse operations, with primary responsibility for the Kitting and Raw Materials Sampling teams. You will ensure materials are accurately prepared, sampled, staged, stored and delivered in accordance with production requirements, GMP/GDP standards and site procedures.
You will work closely with Manufacturing, QA/QC, Planning, HSE, Engineering, IT and other Warehouse & Logistics teams to maintain seamless material flow and resolve operational issues. You will also coach and develop team members, strengthen warehouse capabilities and drive continuous improvement across kitting and sampling operations.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Warehouse & Kitting Operations
- Lead daily warehouse and kitting activities, including material picking, verification, preparation, labelling, assembly, staging and delivery to Manufacturing.
- Ensure accurate preparation of raw materials, single-use technologies and consumables according to production requirements.
- Coordinate daily production orders and ensure materials and kits are available and delivered to the manufacturing floor on time.
- Maintain appropriate material segregation, status identification and traceability throughout warehouse and kitting operations.
- Ensure warehouse and kitting activities comply with cGMP, GDP, HSE, SOPs and Sanofi operational standards.
- Maintain high standards of workplace organisation, housekeeping and cleanliness using 5S principles.
- Ensure warehouse and kitting equipment is maintained in safe and reliable operating condition.
Raw Materials Sampling Operations
- Lead daily raw material sampling activities in accordance with approved SOPs, sampling plans and GMP requirements.
- Ensure appropriate sampling techniques and equipment are used to obtain representative samples while minimising contamination and cross-contamination risks.
- Ensure accurate identification, labelling, segregation and documentation of samples.
- Coordinate sampling schedules and material availability with QA/QC, Manufacturing and Warehouse teams.
- Ensure appropriate handling and storage of samples under required conditions, including ambient, refrigerated (2–8°C) and frozen storage.
- Ensure sampling records and electronic documentation comply with ALCOA+ data integrity principles.
- Support investigations relating to sampling deviations, OOS results and other quality events, including root cause analysis and CAPA activities.
Inventory & Material Management
- Maintain inventory accuracy through cycle counting, stock reconciliation and investigation of inventory discrepancies.
- Oversee material movements, inventory adjustments and transactions within SAP.
- Ensure materials are appropriately received, stored, segregated and handled according to their status and storage requirements.
- Monitor kitting consumables and sampling supplies and coordinate replenishment as required.
- Proactively identify material shortages or inventory risks that could affect manufacturing operations.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach and develop employees across the Kitting and Sampling teams.
- Ensure appropriate staffing, training and operational readiness to meet daily warehouse requirements.
- Set clear performance expectations and ensure activities are completed safely, accurately and on time.
- Identify capability gaps and coordinate training and development plans.
- Foster a strong culture of safety, quality, accountability, teamwork and continuous improvement.
Stakeholder & Production Coordination
- Serve as a key operational point of contact for warehouse, kitting and sampling matters.
- Partner closely with Manufacturing, QA/QC, Planning, HSE, Engineering and IT to ensure smooth material flow and operational continuity.
- Coordinate production order requirements, material availability, kit preparation and delivery.
- Escalate and resolve operational issues that could affect production schedules, material availability or quality requirements.
- Coordinate internal and external sample movements, including documentation, packaging and temperature-control requirements.
Quality, Compliance & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure warehouse, kitting and sampling activities comply with cGMP, GDP, HSE and data integrity requirements.
- Support and manage deviations, non-conformances, HSE incidents, change controls, risk assessments and impact assessments.
- Develop, review and implement SOPs and work instructions.
- Support audit and regulatory inspection readiness.
- Analyse operational performance to identify bottlenecks, recurring issues and improvement opportunities.
- Lead or participate in Lean, 5S and continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety, quality, accuracy, throughput and efficiency.
Systems & Digital Tools
- Maintain proficiency in SAP HANA, Extended Warehouse Management (EWM), LIMS, iSHIFT and other relevant warehouse systems.
- Support the function as a backup SAP/EWM Key User, where required.
- Use operational data and digital tools to monitor performance, identify trends and support decision-making.
- Support system testing, enhancements and implementation activities relevant to warehouse operations.
Key Performance Indicators
- Kitting and sampling SLA/on-time delivery performance.
- Kit accuracy and error-free fulfilment.
- Inventory accuracy and cycle-count compliance.
- Sampling compliance and reduction of deviations/OOS events.
- Team training completion, capability development and engagement.
- HSE performance and incident-free operations.
- Reduction of deviations and recurring non-conformances.
- Delivery and sustainability of continuous improvement initiatives.
About You
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in warehouse, manufacturing logistics, material handling, kitting, inventory or sampling operations.
- Demonstrated supervisory or people leadership experience, ideally leading multiple operational activities or teams.
- Experience within a pharmaceutical, biotechnology or GMP-regulated manufacturing environment is highly advantageous.
- Experience with warehouse material flows, production order fulfilment, inventory control and/or raw material sampling is preferred.
- Minimum Diploma, preferably in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Warehouse Management, Pharmacy, Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Engineering or a related discipline.
- Candidates with Higher NITEC/ITE qualifications and strong relevant experience within a GMP-regulated environment will also be considered.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong people leadership and operational team management skills.
- Good working knowledge of cGMP, GDP and ALCOA+ data integrity principles.
- Experience with SAP HANA/EWM, Warehouse Management Systems and/or LIMS is highly advantageous.
- Knowledge or hands-on experience in raw material sampling, aseptic practices and contamination control is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of inventory control, material traceability, storage requirements and warehouse processes.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel for operational tracking, analysis and reporting.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Able to work effectively with Manufacturing, QA/QC, Planning and other cross-functional stakeholders.
- Hands-on, proactive and comfortable taking ownership of operational issues and escalations.
- Meticulous and organised, with a strong focus on safety, quality, compliance and timely execution.
- Strong continuous improvement and operational excellence mindset.
- Certified, or willing to be trained, in the safe operation of electric material-handling equipment, such as electric pallet jacks and stackers.
- Comfortable working in cleanroom and GMP-controlled environments, including gowning and strict hygiene requirements.
- Able to consistently follow approved SOPs, safety procedures and GMP requirements.
