Sanofi Business Services (SBS), one of the 4 pillars of Sanofi’s Business Transformation organization, is setting up a captive Business Services center in Budapest to provide Finance & Accounting (Account-to-Report, Customer-Invoicing-to-Cash) as well as Employee oriented (Employee Experience) services. With respect to Account to Report (A2R) the Business Services center will be covering the following areas of the process:
Assets Management
Tax Accounting
Intercompany Accounting
Treasury Accounting
GL Accounts Closing and Reporting
The Closing & Reporting Accountant reports to A2R Closing & Reporting Lead and works closely with Finance (Controlling, Treasury, Tax, Internal Control), other SBS departments, Customer Service and the A2R team.

Main responsibilities:
Operation: Deliver GL monthly closing & reporting services to SBS, ensure all automatic postings have been booked, AR & AP sub-ledgers closed and Balance Sheet and P&L accounts closed, Ensure that all recurring and non-recurring items are collected, accounts reconciled and Manual Journal Entries (MJE) booked, Supervise preparation of management, group reporting, Supervise prepare of ad-hoc reports and analysis
Contribute to business reviews, Ensure compliance of processes, transactions and reports with Sanofi accounting policies, internal control guidelines and audit / SOX requirements. Complete all activities as per global Core Model and operational KPIs.
Develop expert level knowledge of the activities in scope as well as local knowledge of entities in scope and become a super-user, Pro-actively anticipate operational issues and coach junior analysts. Build, document and transfer A2R Core Model process knowledge (Level 6/7) related to Closing and Reporting activities.
Monitor month end timetable and important deadlines (Closing Calendar). Review and approve previously defined monthly/ad hoc tasks/transactions/etc. Participate in trouble shooting and provide support and guidance for direct reports on queries, unreconciled and aged items, outstanding operational items.
Monitor operational KPIs to pro-actively manage execution issues. Assist in standardization and common platform implementation in close cooperation with the manager. Involve in migration and ad hoc project(s)
Support business control testing requests and other internal audit requirements. Support implementing systems, procedures changes.
Pro-actively anticipate operational issues and coach junior analysts. Build, document and transfer A2R Core Model process knowledge (Level 6/7) relating to GL monthly closure and reporting activities.
Continuous improvement: Identify process improvement opportunities through elimination of redundant activities. Participate in process automation initiatives and ensure seamless adoption and transition. Continuous maintenance of the SOPs and DTPs.
About you
Experience: Broad understanding of accounting processes and activities, monthly closure and reporting activities with ~8 years of professional experience. Understanding of IFRS and local GAAPs
Functional: Knowledge of IFRS and local GAAPs (essential), Hands on expertise of 8 – 10 years in accounting processes and activities (essential). Knowledge of GL accounting and reporting (essential). Experience in working within a Business Services organization (advantageous). Good business acumen (advantageous). Strong problem solving, deductive and analytical skills (advantageous)
Technical: Hands-on experience of SAP FICO (essential) and other accounting related IT tools (e.g. Trintech Cadency) (advantageous). Knowledge of Microsoft Office and expertise of MS Excel (essential)
Interpersonal: Ability to interact with internal and external clients in a professional manner (essential). Team player, able to work collaboratively transversally and with A2R front line teams with an end-to-end mindset (essential). Good communication skills (advantageous). Attentive to customer needs and feedback (advantageous).
Leadership: Ability to organize, prioritize and structure the tasks for oneself and direct reports (essential). Attentive to detail and works with precision (advantageous). Action oriented, delivery driven, change agent (advantageous). Role model / coach to junior analysts (advantageous)
Education: Graduate degree in accounting or finance (essential). Good and proven experience of 8– 10 years in GL accounting preferably in an international multicultural environment (essential). Fluent in English (essential). Knowledge of other European languages (advantageous).
Working Hours: Be responsible for the period-end closing and reporting in accordance with Sanofi month end close schedule. The associate may need to work in different working hours during the month-end closing period for 5-7 days, depending on the region they support.
