The Public Affairs Lead will have a major responsibility to lead and strategise Public Affairs activities for Malaysia to shape favourable policy and access environment for healthcare innovation, develop and drive strategies that anticipate regulatory and policy shifts, strengthen the company’s reputation and support business growth and patient access.

You will be to oversee and elevate the country topics for the Public Affairs activities for both Pharma and Vaccines businesses in the Country, supporting the overarching business ambition. This is a highly collaborative role which coordinates the relevant cross-functional sub-team and that must work cohesively with relevant functions.

• Ensures the policy strategy supports the overarching Sanofi business ambition, accelerating and complementing policy discussions.

• Build and sustain strong relationships with policymakers, regulators, agencies, PAGs at the central government 

• Identify government priorities (e.g. policy prioritization, reimbursement, procurement, public health programs) and ensuring effective advocacy to drive our business agenda. 

• Provide strategic public affairs advice to the Corporate Affairs Head

• Oversees the development of a live stakeholder map of priority Government and policy influencers  

• Works across the business to identify the cross-cutting policy priorities for the country’s business and ensure alignment of external messaging and public affairs activity across 1Sanofi (position based in Malaysia includes the Hub). Seeks to secure improvements to pricing and access regulation, as well as new routes to market that are in line with business needs. 

About You

• Degree in Law, Mass Communications, Public Affairs, Public Policy or similar discipline.

• A minimum of 5-years Healthcare exposure with good understanding of stakeholder engagement techniques, government affairs, market access and policymaking process.

• Demonstrated strong understanding of government relations, policy and market shaping, plus lobbying efforts and experience in leading a Public Affairs or Government Affairs Department in an MNC.

• Experience in a senior role where business management, networking and leadership skills were a core landscape and relevance to industry/business strategy.

• Strength in collaboration and influencing, a strategic mind set, and a doer.

• Politically-savvy, interested in engaging with a large variety of stakeholders with proven leadership ability.

• Productive network with key media, government, policy and industry stakeholders and suppliers.

• Proven ability to operate in a cross cultural, complex matrix environment, as well as in stakeholder management.

• Analytical and forward thinker, problem solver, results oriented, self-organized and self-starter.
