Vaccine Drug Substance Development Scientist - VIE Contract

iMove, the Sanofi VIE Program, is available to citizens of the European Economic Area (EU + Norway, Liechtenstein and Iceland) aged between 18 and 28.

About the job

As Vaccine Drug Substance Development Scientist VIE within our CMC (Chemistry, manufacturing and controls) Development team, you will have the opportunity to develop the ability to lead and function creatively within a team, while maintaining attention to strict compliance. You will acquire knowledge of industry constraints and regulations.

The Vaccine Drug Substance Development (VDSD) within the Global Bioprocess Development (GBD) department actively supports process development of novel vaccine candidates utilizing techniques such as viral cell culture, bacterial fermentation, molecular biology, downstream processing (chromatography, TFF) and supportive analytical techniques. We develop and scale up upstream and downstream processes for new vaccines up to 200L scale.

Main responsibilities:

  • Phase I and II drug substance process development for recombinant protein vaccine candidates.
  • Plan and execute upstream process optimization and scale-up studies using technologies such as AMBR high-throughput bioreactor system, small and pilot scale bioreactors.
  • Plan and execute midstream and downstream process optimization and scale-up studies using technologies such as TECAN high-throughput chromatography screening, AKTAs, Tangential Flow Filtration (TFF) and various filtration methods.
  • Supportive analytical testing including viral titration assays, Flow cytometry, protein assays, Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate-Polyacrylamide Gel Electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE), Western blot, High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Limulus Amebocyte Lysate (LAL) and others.
  • Statistical data analysis, preparation of technical reports and stakeholder presentations.
  • Planning, execution and statistical analysis of Design of Experiment studies.
  • Tech transfer of processes to Global Clinical manufacturing team or Manufacturing Science and Technology (MSAT).
  • Contribute to Sanofi’s digital and automation initiatives.

About you

Experience:

  • Knowledge and experience with bioprocessing methods and process scale-up.
  • Demonstrated experience with mammalian cell culture and downstream processing.
  • Experience in analytical techniques such as titration assays, flow cytometry, protein assays (BCA), SDS-PAGE, Western blot, HPLC would be an asset.

Soft and Technical skills:

  • Mandatory Computer skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Expertise in Statistical analysis and software (JMP, GraphPad Prism) would be an asset.
  • Leadership skills.
  • Demonstrate accountability and motivation.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Desire to work within a team environment.

Education:

  • Master’s degree in Biochemical Engineering / Life Sciences / Biology / Immunology / Biochemistry disciplines.

Languages:

  • Fluent English (written and verbal).
