Main Responsibilities:

Energy Activities

  • Implement Sanofi energy standard and energy digital tools at site level

  • Monitor and manage site energy consumption data through metering, KPI’s, estimation and forecast

  • Build year over year site energy balance and define metering program to improve control

  • Define and propose OPEX energy budget for strat plan

  • Anticipate and investigate energy incentives/subsidies for optimizing project CAPEX

  • Approve public utility incentives for energy projects

  • Define and maintain an energy efficiency improvement roadmap through data analysis, utility operational knowledge and predictive models

  • Benchmark site energy consumption against best practice guidelines / Sanofi standards

  • Define and propose energy project CAPEX budget in coordination with site management

Energy Efficiency Project Management

  • Design and pilot energy efficiency programs / initiatives / projects including site stake holders

  • Challenge all consumption usage and propose energy optimization solutions

  • Measure results on implemented actions and compare to expected savings

  • Communicate energy consumption / project reporting to site, GBU, Global function

  • Manage or contribute to Planet Mobilization ambition by reducing site CO2 footprint through projects and initiatives

  • Review and challenge all site Capex projects from energy efficiency and Carbon Neutral design perspective and propose improvement / alternative solutions.  Perform energy assessments of Capex projects in cooperation with corporate energy manager to ensure energy saving by design

  • Ensure appropriate set-up of Energy related projects in associated tools – Shine, Resource Advisor.

Culture of Energy Efficiency

  • Collaborate with Sanofi global community (Community of Expertise) and contribute to Sanofi global benchmark analysis and best practice sharing

  • Contribute to external community of practices in order to perform benchmark with external companies

  • Co-Lead ISO 50001 certification in coordination with HSE

  • Participate as requested in other Sanofi site’s internal ISO 50001 audits

  • Develop an energy community and culture at site level through an active and informative communication plan

  • Design, encourage and deploy communication plan on best “energy conservation” behaviors and site energy initiatives

  • Participate in trainings to obtain knowledge about state-of the art and innovative break-through technologies

  • Ensure relevant KPI’s for manufacturing and technical service platforms are within the Energy Monitoring Information System (EMIS), in conjunction with Sanofi Manufacturing Systems (SMS, QDCI)

  • Ability to manage projects, map external stakeholders and create collaborative relationships with internal and external partners

  • Influence and negotiation skills to gain acceptance from various leaders to work towards a common goal, ensuring energy consumption is embedded as a priority

  • Ability to work in different units to address a variety of variables among different cultures

  • Short – mid – long term vision.

Functional  Competencies

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or HVAC / Plant Operator with 5+ years of experience in building operations


Technical Knowledge and Skills:

  • Deep knowledge in utilities / HVAC / Thermal design and operations
  • Good understanding of electrical and mechanical systems
  • Expert across GBU's for Energy production technologies (LEX)
  • Knowledge of local and global energy context
  • Mastery and practice of energy management systems (ISO50001 or others)


Professional Skills:

  • Effective communication and presentation skills: summarizes and presents concise executive summaries to senior level management
  • Solid knowledge of utilizing spreadsheets to track and present data, creation of trends and graphs

Preferred / Transversal Competencies

  • Knowledge of digital tools, BMS, data analytics, digital based control systems

  • Project management and deployment skills

  • Data analytics driven mindset

  • Knowledge in troubleshooting, problem solving and other SMS tools

  • Ability to create a transversal network at site level on energy initiatives

  • Business acumen

  • Ability to prepare life cycle cost analysis (IFF / NPV) to demonstrate project value over time

  • Open minded and sense of initiative
