About The Job

The Data and Computational Sciences team brings end-to-end data integration and advanced analytics (pre-clinical, biomarkers, process development, CMC, clinical) to the mRNA Center of Excellence. We are responsible for developing, deploying and exploiting digital solutions (AI/machine learning, data, analytics) to integrate the full data value chain, extracting actionable information for a move to a full data driven strategy and decision-making process, to increase probability of success and accelerate mRNA vaccines and therapeutics development and launch.

Main responsibilities:

As a mRNA Computational Biologist you will collaborate with scientific and technical experts within the mRNA Center of Excellence, bringing practical knowledge and experience in applying bioinformatics, statistical and computational methods to preclinical and translational research data to identify predictive biomarkers, characterize mechanism of action and develop predictive models for mRNA vaccines and therapeutics.

In this position, you will:

  • Design, develop and validate robust solutions and pipelines leveraging bioinformatics, statistical models, multivariate analysis etc. for both preclinical and translational data
  • Explore and analyze complex, multi-modal data to understand mode of action, identify predictive biomarkers and to drive mRNA vaccine research and development
  • Develop and evaluate predictive models using a range of machine learning methods to biological problems, with an emphasis on predicting clinical outcomes from preclinical studies
  • Perform exploratory data analysis, hypothesis generation and validation through data integration, advanced analytics, and visualization of mRNA vaccine design parameters, high dimensional immunological, multi-omics and pre-clinical and clinical data (e.g. immunogenicity, reactogenicity)
  • Bring broad knowledge and expertise in statistics, data science, machine learning and modeling to project and mRNA platform teams
  • Proactively identify, assess, and internalize emerging technologies and methods
  • Prepare and publish scientific papers and congress reports
  • Generate IP and participate in the drafting of patent filings

About You

  • PhD in Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, Data and Computer Sciences, Systems Immunology, Computational Biology or equivalent
  • In depth theoretical and practical understanding of statistical analysis, multi-variate analysis, clustering & dimension reduction approaches, regression methods, and other machine learning techniques
  • Demonstrated experience delivering solutions based on machine learning, bioinformatic & statistical methods relevant to the large scale analysis of complex healthcare and life sciences data
  • Proficient in scientific programming languages (R and/or Python)
  • Strong combination of theoretical knowledge, analytical and critical thinking, and creative problem-solving skills
  • Highly collaborative mindset & passionate communicator who is able to clearly and effectively articulate progress & complex solutions to scientific researchers and stakeholders
  • Understanding of vaccine discovery and development processes is a plus, as well as familiarity with RNA biology and RNA-centric techniques/methods
  • Fluent in English

About your development opportunities

In this role, you will be part of a unique team bridging the gap between preclinical research and clinical outcomes and directly contribute to the understanding and advancement of Sanofi’s mRNA platform for the treatment and prevention of disease. You’ll be faced with interesting challenges in a supportive atmosphere, and you’ll have the opportunity to hone your skills and expertise as a computational biologist delivering impactful and actionable solutions to the organization.

Pursue progress. Discover extraordinary.

Progress doesn’t happen without people – people from different backgrounds, in different locations, doing different roles, all united by one thing: a desire to make miracles happen. You can be one of those people. Chasing change, embracing new ideas and exploring all the opportunities we have to offer. Let’s pursue progress. And let’s discover extraordinary together.
