Sanofi has decided to invest into a new large state-of-the art facility for Insulin Drug Substance in Beijing, China. For this green field operation, we’re enhancing our legacy of excellence and build on decades of expertise on the whole value chain of insulin manufacturing. The new facility will be designed as a fully automated, green, modern, and state-of-the-art biologics facility. A large global and highly cross-functional program organization will be established to lead and execute the program until commercial routine manufacturing.

The IFB Process Safety Lead will be responsible in Beijing for performing/participating in risk assessments in the field of explosion prevention and protection and usual HAZOP linked to a new project, creating/reviewing HAZOP and Explosion Protection Document for internal or external use, including follow-up, consolidating all relevant process safety information with IFF Process Safety Engineer located in Frankfurt. This role ensures process safety compliance with all relevant Chinese regulations and Sanofi standards, promotes a culture of safety within Sanofi and minimizes risks to personnel and advocates for the environmental sustainability of the project.
Main responsibilities

- Ensure that process safety expectations from Chinese Authorities are well embedded in IFB project
- Ensure that process safety requirements from Sanofi Global Standards are properly rolled out in all IFB process safety risk assessments (esp. explosion protection, HAZOP, gap assessment vs. Sanofi Standards)
- Ensure a good communication within Sanofi teams (process safety, HSE, engineering, maintenance, production), Engineering Service Providers and IFF project teams with the aim to provide the same level of information to all IFF&IFB participants
- Participate to relevant HAZOP moderated by Engineering Service Providers and provide to HAZOP team process safety orientations in terms of countermeasures
- Verify the accuracy of countermeasures defined in HAZOP perfomed by Engineering Service Providers for “typical systems” and deploy these countermeasures to further similar systems, always in the frame of HAZOP
- Participate to the follow-up of countermeasures documented in process safety risk assessment (explosion protection, HAZOP, HAZID, etc.)
- Provide a technical support to IFB teams regarding all process safety topics (ATEX, SIL, safety concepts, P&ID, Automatisation, good practices, experience feedback (REX & LEX), inerting, etc.)
- Use Sanofi Process Safety Tool Box to validate some conclusions
- Manage Key HSE Elements with Maintenance department
About you

- Education: Engineer (Biologics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Engineering, Process Safety, Maintenance, Automation)
- Experience:
o some years experience in participating in HAZOP, including P&ID understanding and follow-up
o some years experience in an Enginering or Maintenance department
o Bilingual Chinese/English
- Skills / Personal Attributes:
o Transversal communication
o Ability to embark colleagues
o Ability to deal with ambiguity and conflicting priorities in a high-pressure environment
o Ability to focus on targets with clear deliverables
- Working Conditions:
o Low travelling activity (e.g. Paris, Frankfurt)
o Full-time, day work
