Population Health Specialist

About the job

This role is critical to the aT1 Diabetes Franchise and provides us with the opportunity to gain a clear understanding of the current landscape for the early detection of T1 Diabetes across the UK, identifying and exploring potential opportunities to support the optimal screening pathway.


Main responsibilities:

•    Collaborate with relevant population health leaders within ICBs, diabetes clinical networks and local health authorities to understand priority level for early detection of T1 diabetes.
•    Analyse regional T1 diabetes data to identify disparities in diagnosis rates, access to screening services and rates of DKA (Diabetic ketoacidosis).
•    Map the existing screening and monitoring ecosystem, including centres of excellence, diagnostic pathways, registries across key customer segments. Identifying population health priorities at an ICB level in autoimmune T1 diabetes, with a focus on improving early detection.
•    Build partnerships with relevant public health leaders and clinical leads to educate on importance and value of early detection of Type 1 diabetes.
•    Compliment current medical activities to educate around the importance of early detection and appropriate coding so that people are visible to the healthcare system. Gain an understanding of barriers to appropriate system coding.
•    Liaising with the medical and NHS engagement team, verify the accuracy and completeness of the desktop research conducted thus far, while ensuring full compliance with ABPI code of practice.


About you

Skills, experience and knowledge requirements


•    A self-starter with the drive and curiosity to truly make a difference!
•    Educated to degree level or equivalent, preferably with a science background.
•    Experience of working in a non-promotional role and relevant ABPI code requirements.
•    Understanding of the NHS relating to aT1D including the local decision makers, impact on Sanofi and changes that affect their customers.
•    Experience of successfully working with ICB decision makers relative to population health within the NHS.
•    Ability to analyse complex internal and external data.
•    Ability to share knowledge internally and cross functionally to maximise effectiveness.
•    Ability to achieve success within a changing environment (comfortable with ambiguity).
