Summary of purpose/major responsibilities

The Logistics Technician is responsible for performing all raw material goods receipt for valid Purchase Order execution within SAP; non-batch, batch and quality managed batch-controlled material. Further responsible for the post goods receipt put away, storage and order picking of all warehoused material in accordance with good cGMP practices and as set forth in departmental SOPs. Additionally responsible for inter-plant delivery, inventory control, proper certifications for maintaining licensure for the operation of powered material handling equipment and the administration functions required to support departmental operations.

This position reports to and supports the Warehouse Operations manager, who is ultimately responsible for the management and leadership of the Warehouse Operations team within the US Materials Management Group of Swiftwater Industrial Operations.  This position will have interactions focused mostly on Production support, but, also plant-wide with Site Services, Finance & Administration, Industrial Operations, CommOps, Outside Transportation Services, Outside Vendors, Regulatory Agencies, and Outside Contractors/Consultants.

Main Responsibilities:

Receiving Duties (Primary) - 15%

  • Responsible for performing the receiving function initiated with the unloading of the physical receipt at the dock as set forth in departmental SOPs.  Count, verify and examine incoming receipts against carrier freight bill nothing any over, short or damage (OS&D) conditions. 

  • Unpack and further count, verify and examine contents against vendor packing slip noting any concealed OS&D conditions. 

  • Perform all raw material goods receipt for valid Purchase Order execution wtihin SAP; both non-batch, batch and quality managed batch-controlled material. 

  • Complete all proper inventory labeling.  Process any/all specialized receipt functions dealing with the importing of all non-sanofi pasteur US finished goods and filled containers for valid Schedule Agreement/Purchase Order execution within SAP.

Warehousing Duties (Primary) - 10%

  • Responsible for the goods receipt put away, storage and order picking for all warehoused material in accordance with good cGMP practices and as set forth in departmental SOPs. 

  • Responsible for stock put away of batch-controlled, released raw materials and all non-batch controlled materials into warehouse storage locations. 

  • Responsible for document control as it concerns order generation for picking documents, either Goods Issue to Cost Center or Bin to Bin transfer for subsequent Goods Issue to Process Order. 

  • Responsible for the timely picking of orders enabling on time delivery to person or area based on requested delivery date and ensuring that all SAP transactions are current and correct. 

  • Responsible for stock removal of all items designated on sanofi pasteur/US Merchandise Disposal Order and processing of accompanying Hazardous Waste transfer paperwork where necessary.

Administration Duties (Support) - 10%

  • Responsible to perform all administrative functions required to properly support departmental operations and where set forth in departmental SOPs.  Complete and process all reports in a timely manner. 

  • Coordinate all discrepancy communications with Production, end users, Purchasing and/or vendors in a timely manner. 

  • Coordinate import logistics with specialized transportation services for the inland transport of imported finished goods. 

  • Process MDO (Merchandise Disposal Order) to affect proper documentation, materials handling and waste disposal for all commodities stored. 

  • Performs any/all other administrative duties as required to support departmental operations.

Inventory Control Duties (Primary) - 10%

  • Responsible for inventory control of all materials within the SAP system as transacted in conjunction with the Goods Receipt for Purchase Order process and related downstream processing and as set forth in departmental SOPs. 

  • Controls the inventory accuracy of all external Goods Receipts for Purchase Order through quality inspection and into warehouse storage. 

  • Controls the inventory accuracy of all Goods Issue to Cost Center transactions as directed by the warehouse order pick and deliver process. 

  • Controls the inventory accuracy, up to the point of delivery acceptance, of all Bin to Bin transfers to production areas for use in Goods Issue to Process Orders. 

  • Responsible for maintaining inventory accuracy as defined by corporate standards and measured via the cycle count process for all material stored in the warehouse.

Material Handling duties (Primary) - 10%

  • Responsible to perform and control all logistical movements of material from receiving to storage, direct to production areas or to other designated areas and as set forth in departmental SOPs. 

  • Must maintain certification to allow for the use of required material handling equipment to perform material movements. 

  • Coordinates and performs all in process SAP transactions as required to control movement of material. 

  • Responsible for the safe and efficient storage and handling of various types of "hazard-classified" materials, such as: compressed gas cylinders, flammable liquids, hazardous waste, blood pathogens, infectious substances, thimerosal, etc. 

  • Responsible for proper housekeeping and cleaning procedures as set forth in departmental SOPs.

5% for each duties below:

  • Completion and maintenance of required certification and licensure to operate powered material handling equipment associated with job performance duties.

  • Completion of all assigned training modules, SOPs, SWIs, safety  and compliance requirements as controlled by the ISOtrain system.

  • Processing external shipments in a safe and compliant manner, while following hazmat/dangerous goods, cold-chain and chain-of-custody internal and external procedures and regulations (FDA, IATA, DOT, TSA, etc.)

  • Proactively communicate shipment status to internal and external customers.

  • Inventory control of all materials within the SAP system as transacted in conjunction with Goods Receipts for Purchase Order(s) and/or outbound deliveries as set forth in the departmental SOPs.

  • Management of temperature charts, cycle counts, forklift inspections, and record retention

  • Participate is all site safety initiatives in an effort to promote a safer work environment.

  • Utilization of material handling equipment for the safe movement of materials in, out and within the facility (vehicle loading, unloading, and from material racking

  • Monitor cleaning activities and associated form to ensure work areas are maintained as per site requirements

  • All other duties as assigned

  • The ability to perform any/all needed SAP transactions in the receipt, storage, movement and delivery of all material is critical to the success of this role and the Warehouse Operations Department. 

  • This position requires the incumbent to have an above average SAP skill set in the management of GMP material receipt and order fulfillment for production support.

  • The GMP production environment requires attention to the details and accuracy within good documentation practices. 

  • The multi shift GMP production environment that exists generates the need to work overtime as required often with short notice and the working of various shifts depending on business needs and production cycles. 

  • The focus to create and maintain a safety culture that is proactive and striving for zero injuries is of the utmost importance and an expectation for all employees.

  • The Logistics Technician has the ability to influence and impact the Manufacturing Area's productivity and run time with the proper service levels on order fulfilment of materials required. 

  • The work performed by the Logistics Technician and the proper SAP transactions associated therein directly impacts Manufacturing's ability to execute the Production Plan as published by the Materials Management group and has the ability to affect deviations within their area of responsibility, which directly affects product produced at the Swiftwater facility.

Education/experience

The Logistics Technician is expected to have experience and knowledge including but not limited to the following:

  • SAP system extensive knowledge

  • Powered Material Handling equipment

  • Manual Material Handling equipment

  • SCLogic Package Tracking system

  • 24 Volt Battery Charger

  • High School Diploma/GED

  • Valid driver's license (clean driving record), ability to obtain DOT medical release

  • Minimum of 2+ years’ experience in warehousing/logistics/supply chain.

Certifications

  • Forklift Certification (required within one year of start date)
