Job title: T1D Medical Manager

Reporting to the T1D (Type 1 Diabetes) Medical Head, and providing guidance to Medical Advisors, the T1D Medical Manager is responsible for supporting and executing medical activities focused on autoimmune Type 1 Diabetes. This role ensures the timely and effective execution of initiatives that align with the overall medical strategy for T1D. The Medical Manager contributes to scientific planning, medical content development, and external stakeholder engagement, supporting the launch and ongoing success of teplizumab and other immunotherapeutics.

Key accountabilities

Support Medical Strategy Execution (20%)

■ Support the T1D Medical Head in developing and executing the Japan Medical Plan.

■ Provide scientific input for promotional materials in collaboration with marketing.

■ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address unsolicited medical requests.

■ Assist in regulatory interactions and development planning.

■ Identify unmet medical needs to support lifecycle opportunities.

Support Medical Communication/Publication and Exchange (30%)

■ Assist in publication planning and execution (articles, congresses, symposia).

■ Engage with KOLs and scientific societies to build networks.

■ Support field strategy development with MSLs and global medical teams.

■ Develop medical contents

■ Present data at advisory boards and scientific meetings.

■ Collect and share medical insights with the Medical Head.

Support Medical-related Studies (50%)

■ Generate evidence by planning and executing company-sponsored studies and externally sponsored collaborations.

■ Collaborate on post-approval study planning and execution.

■ Review and support Investigator-Sponsored Studies (ISSs).

■ Analyze real-world data with internal and external experts.

Context of the job/major challenges

■ Operate independently while providing guidance to Medical Advisors.

■ Navigate complex regulatory environments and ensure compliance.

■ Manage national/international travel and remote work (40% remote, 60% onsite).

■ Maintain scientific integrity in non-promotional activities.

Requirements

Education/experience

■ Advanced degree (MD, PhD, PharmD, DNP in medical specialty) preferred, or other relevant life science degree (RS/MS) with healthcare specialty required

■ Prior experience of clinical trials/studies management and understanding of relevant guidelines (e.g. GCP, Ethics guideline) required

Desirable –

■ Min 5-year experience in R&D and / or Medical in pharmaceutical companies

■ Have experience at least two years of MSL or three years of Medical Manager/Medical Advisor’s role

■ Understanding of health economics

■ Scientific and Technical knowledge in Therapeutic area

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE

■ Scientific acumen: Therapeutic area knowledge, experience in medical research & development

■ Statistical & data interpretation: Analytical thinking and understanding of causation

■ Medical paper writing: Experience in writing of scientific medical papers (as appropriate)

■ Strategic acumen: Understanding strategic needs of affiliate organization important for completion of tasks

■ Must be fluent in Japanese and business level English (reading/writing)

■ Focus on scientific exchange: Dedicated to serving HCP needs, feedback, establishes and maintains effective relationships

■ Effective Communication: Written communications and presentation skills
