Your job, as Manager, Metrology Planner within our Centralized Maintenance team, will be to manage and coordinate metrology activities to support R&D, QA/RA, Production, and IO needs across the Toronto plant. This role ensures resources are planned and utilized efficiently, maintains the Metrology/Calibration Program to meet safety and regulatory compliance, and provides leadership and performance feedback to the Metrology team. The Metrology Planner also assists in developing and implementing key documents by providing technical recommendations.
This position also requires the operation and administration of the SAP Plant Maintenance module and Indysoft to manage the Calibration program planning process efficiently. Working closely with the Maintenance, Reliability, and Production teams, the Metrology Planner ensures that all required resources, including labor, materials, and tools, are allocated efficiently to execute calibrations in line with SMS 2.0 best practices.

Main Responsibilities:
(50 %) Planning and Scheduling
Plan and schedule a large volume of work orders per month for multiple trades in a unionized environment.
Ensure timely and accurate calibration of instruments within the due date of ZM05s.
Develop and manage schedules using CMMS (SAP), collaborate with end users, and ensure availability of necessary materials and resources.
Assess notifications to plan for corrective calibration in a timely manner.
(30 %) Utilization of SAP Maintenance Planning Module
Support Establish frequency and tolerances to be applied for certification on GxP critical devices.
Ensure compliance with cGMP guidelines and regulations with respect to certification programs.
Create and analyze SAP reports, develop new metrics, and manipulate data to support planning and scheduling functions.
Analyze SAP data to develop and support reliability and business improvement initiatives.
Develop new maintenance KPIs and performance metrics as needed to enhance planning efficiency.
Extract and manipulate SAP data to support continuous reliability improvements.
(20 %) Collaboration and Communication
Contributes to the writing of corporate policies for Metrology.
Work closely with Production, Technical, Quality, and Safety teams to foster strong working relationships and ensure smooth maintenance execution.
Provide data, reports, and insights to site management in response to maintenance-related inquiries.
Attend stakeholder meetings to communicate scheduling changes and gather feedback for process improvements.
Ensure proper closure and sign-off of completed maintenance work orders by end users.
Maintain open communication with all relevant stakeholders to enhance maintenance coordination and execution.
Support the Reliability and Maintenance Engineering function.

CONTEXT OF THE JOB/MAJOR CHALLENGES
Functional/Technical skills
- Must have an understanding of related profession/trades related to Metrology/Calibration – of equipment, instruments and systems, along with an understanding of the various areas within the facility from the biotechnical production areas to the related support functions within the metrology department. Evaluation of skills/competence of technical and/or contract staff performing calibrations.
- Knowledge of metrology, calibration, testing and certification of equipment and instruments.
- Decisions on acceptance or rejection of metrology work and evaluation of test data and results to ensure compliance knowledge of cGMP Guidelines/Policies or compliance codes.
- Ability to prepare and ensure that budget criteria are met.
Supervisory/Personal skills
- Ability to manage labor relations, closely liaison with all trades, production, R&D, QA/RA, Engineering, external contractors or consultants, and other site personnel as needed. Personnel Management - Identify, co-ordinate, administer, and provide, technical training, as required for personnel.
- Knowledge of any Federal and Corporate standards, policies or codes (i.e. Employment Standards Acts, Canadian Human Rights, Occupational Health and Safety Acts, Federal Contractor Program) related to metrology activities.

Responsible for Calibration of equipment and/or instruments at the Sanofi Pasteur Limited Toronto site.
Budgetary Responsibility
- Manage an approved budget (>$500,000 and <$1,000,000)
- Purchasing Authority: < $1,000

- Establishing Certification policy for the site
- Prioritize/schedule maintenance work
- Develop procedures for calibration certification for equipment and/or instruments
- Evaluation of test data and results to ensure compliance
- Evaluation of skills/competence of technical and/or contract staff performing calibrations
- Decisions on acceptance or rejection of metrology work
About you
Education/Certifications
Minimum three (3) year Community College or equivalent degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related Engineering program
Minimum two (2) years of previous related experience in scheduling or building maintenance planning/environment
Maintenance Management Professional (MMP), an asset
Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.), an asset
APICS Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM), an asset
Applied Science Technologist (A.Sc.T.), an asset
Certified Technician (C.Tech.), an asset
Professional Engineer (EIT / P.Eng), an asset
Experience
Good working knowledge of the planned maintenance module of SAP
Advanced level of Excel including Pivot tables, VLOOKUP and VBA Macro’s
Highly organized and detail oriented
Ability to handle multiple demands in a fast-paced environment
Experience within a GMP environment will be considered an asset
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Interpersonal skills and ability to function as part of a team while motivating technical staff to achieve results.
Problem solving skills with ability to identify root cause of equipment failures
Organizational skills to create a department that is at optimal productivity and consistently look to increase efficiency.
Experience working with production equipment such as fermentor, autoclaves, incubators, fridges and freezers
Experience working with clean / black utility equipment such as plant steam / clean steam generators, PW / WFI generation, distillation systems
