About the Job
Sanofi is preparing its future through an ambitious program named Modulus. The Singapore Modulus site is at the cornerstone of Sanofi Manufacturing & Supply (M&S) strategy as it aims at creating a new manufacturing concept consisting of a new generation of evolutive multi-product facilities, modular, adaptable, and agile, leveraging new disruptive technologies to better address business challenges.
In this context, we are looking for a Reliability and Methods Engineer for our site based in Singapore, Tuas.
This role is responsible for increasing the reliability, sustainability, and maintainability of GMP and non-GMP systems across the site. The position provides engineering design, maintenance, operational support, and active participation in new installations, continuous improvement initiatives, and troubleshooting of existing systems. The Reliability and Methods Engineer will report to the Head of Maintenance & Reliability.
Maintenance Excellence
Development of Reliability Strategies & Maintenance Programs
· Develop and maintain FMECA as a knowledge platform for plant-specific risk assessment, reliability-enhancing activities, and determination of maintenance strategies.
· Perform periodic analysis on equipment databases to determine improvement priorities, increase equipment uptime, and reduce asset ownership costs.
· Originate and develop analytical methods for determining reliability of components, equipment, and processes.
· Manage Predictive Maintenance (PDM) programs such as vibration analysis, infrared thermography, motor circuit analysis, ultrasonics, and related technologies.
· Interpret predictive maintenance data outputs and prioritize corrective actions accordingly.
Compliance & Operational Performance
· Review, monitor, and ensure compliance with engineering design requirements, standards, specifications, and local regulatory codes.
· Routinely audit operational performance and regulatory compliance of highly complex equipment and systems.
· Support maintenance excellence initiatives to improve system reliability, maintainability, and performance.
Maintenance, Contract & Change Management
· Support project procurement activities including vendor and subcontractor management, RFQs, tender review, and technical/commercial bid analysis.
· Apply and implement Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) principles to improve plant maintenance programs and equipment performance.
· Ensure all maintenance activities are properly documented to demonstrate compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g. cGMP).
· Implement measures to maintain data integrity, including secure maintenance data storage and audit trail controls.
· Support contract and change management activities for maintenance and engineering-related projects.
System Reliability & Continuous Improvement
Maintenance Planning & Reliability Improvement
· Support planning and execution of scheduled maintenance activities to prevent failures and improve equipment reliability.
· Ensure assigned CAPA, deviation, CCR, and DCR tasks are managed and resolved in a timely manner.
· Lead improvement actions and projects to modify, improve, or replace equipment identified as “bad actors”.
· Perform work within budget and schedule parameters and provide feedback on workload, schedule, and cost management.
Troubleshooting & Compliance Support
· Perform root cause investigations for repetitive problems and equipment failures as part of deviation investigations and CAPA.
· Prepare for audits through self-assessments and mock audits to identify and rectify compliance gaps.
· Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) during audits for maintenance and equipment-related matters.
· Facilitate on-site startup and training activities as required.
Support Start-Up & C&Q Management
· Support and participate in commissioning and qualification (C&Q) of related systems in an operating plant.
· Participate in activities related to HAZOP, HAZID, FMEA, SOP, CMMS, maintenance procedures, and regulatory compliance requirements.
· Prepare and support C&Q documentation including URS, DR, FCCA, and SIA.
· Participate in system startup, shakedown, pre-startup checks, and commissioning of engineering and process systems.
· Review and update operational support documents such as SOPs, PM plans, and training matrices.
Cross-Functional Coordination
· Coordinate with manufacturing and maintenance planning teams to establish maintenance plans with minimal production impact.
· Collaborate across functions to investigate repetitive failures and implement corrective actions.
· Utilize quality systems to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
· Comply with Sanofi Safety Program requirements, including Health & Safety regulations and OSHA standards.
· Lead or support cross-functional engineering initiatives to improve operational reliability and efficiency.
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies / Language
· Knowledge of regulatory requirements including FDA, EMA, HSA regulations, and cGMP.
· Strong understanding of maintenance and reliability systems including design, installation, testing, and troubleshooting.
· Proficiency in reliability engineering tools such as FMEA, RCM, MTBF, Life-Cycle Costing, Pareto Analysis, and Root Cause Failure Analysis.
· Good knowledge of predictive maintenance technologies and interpretation of condition monitoring data.
· Familiarity with relevant industry codes, standards, and safety regulations.
· Project ownership, decision-making, scheduling, and reporting skills.
· Ability to lead contingent staff, vendors, contractors, and external resources.
· Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills for stakeholder engagement.
· Familiarity with relevant software tools and maintenance management systems is beneficial.
· Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work collaboratively toward common goals.
Qualifications / Requirements
· Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related technical discipline from an accredited institution.
· Minimum 5 years of experience in maintenance management and reliability engineering in plant operations or engineering environments.
· Experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing and/or petrochemical plant operations is preferred.
· Experience with reliability engineering tools such as FMEA, RCM, MTBF, Life-Cycle Costing, Pareto, and Root Cause Failure Analysis.
· Certification as a reliability professional is preferred.
· Familiarity with SAP Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) is advantageous.
· Certification in calibration or related technical fields is desirable.
