Our deep understanding of the immune system – and innovative pipeline – enables us to invent medicines and vaccines that treat and protect millions of people around the world. Together, we chase the miracles of science to improve people’s lives.
Main Responsibilities
End-to-End Project Delivery – Own the complete project lifecycle — from initiation through closure — for complex, high-impact initiatives including New Product Launches, Second Generation products, and major Technology Transfers. Ensure on-time delivery with optimal resource utilization and full adherence to strategic objectives. Operate with full autonomy in decision-making, escalating only the most critical strategic issues while proactively resolving challenges before they impact delivery. Drive accountability across all project workstreams and serve as the single point of ownership for project outcomes.
Product Program Management – Contribute actively to product program strategy and new project evaluation within assigned clusters; maintain clear understanding of how projects align with commercial priorities and business objectives.
Strategic Partnerships - Build and sustain deep strategic partnerships with product networks — including Project Leaders, Cluster Heads, and PTLs — to ensure project execution is tightly aligned with commercial and organizational priorities. Leverage expert knowledge of business strategy across multiple products and GBUs to anticipate shifts in strategic direction and proactively adapt project plans. Serve as a trusted senior advisor to business partners, integrating regulatory, quality, and commercial considerations into project design from the outset.
Cross-Functional Collaboration – Lead seamless collaboration across MSAT Platforms, sites/GBUs, R&D, Finance, and SPPM, managing a large and complex stakeholder landscape that includes senior leadership. Influence senior decision-makers across the organization, navigate competing interests with diplomacy and confidence, and build strong cross-functional partnerships that enable project success. Represent projects in high-visibility forums and deliver executive-level presentations with clarity and impact. Negotiate effectively to achieve project objectives in complex, multi-party environments.
Technical Project Planning & Execution – Create project plans and schedules independently for standard projects; accurately identify critical path and dependencies; monitor project performance using key metrics including schedule variance and milestone achievement; adapt plans based on changing circumstances while maintaining project objectives
PM Standards & Best Practices – Execute rigorous project management standards including PKMs, Lessons Learned documentation, and established processes; follow MSAT Global Project Management governance including project charter initiation, gate reviews, and governance meetings; facilitate project meetings and drive agenda effectively
Risk & Issue Management – Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate complex project risks through sophisticated risk analysis and the development of robust contingency strategies. Address systemic challenges affecting multiple products or projects, solving ambiguous problems with innovative approaches. Handle crisis situations calmly and effectively, serving as a stabilizing force under pressure. Transform risk events and project challenges into opportunities for process improvement and organizational learning. Develop risk-adjusted timelines and scenario plans that provide leadership with clear visibility into potential outcomes.
Budget & Financial Management – Ensure complex projects are delivered at optimal cost through rigorous financial oversight and full budget accountability. Develop and manage comprehensive project budgets, including multi-phase cost modeling and resource allocation optimization. Implement advanced performance measurement techniques including Earned Value Management (EVM) to provide accurate, real-time financial visibility. Independently facilitate the development of comprehensive business cases, coordinating sophisticated financial analysis including NPV, IRR, and risk-adjusted returns. Present business cases to senior stakeholders with confidence, defending assumptions and linking project outcomes to strategic objectives.
Performance Tracking & Stakeholder Communication – Drive rigorous project accountability through advanced performance tracking, proactive identification of delivery gaps, and systematic root cause analysis. Implement advanced performance measurement frameworks — including EVM and risk-adjusted timelines — to provide leadership with accurate, forward-looking project health assessments. Lead structured deep-dive analyses on complex or recurring issues, developing and implementing corrective action plans that prevent recurrence. Synthesize performance insights across multiple projects to identify systemic trends and recommend strategic interventions to senior leadership.
Continuous Improvement & Mentorship – Champion and execute rigorous PM standards and best practices — including PKMs, Lessons Learned documentation, gate reviews, and governance frameworks — ensuring consistent, high-quality delivery across all projects. Customize PM methodologies to the specific needs of complex initiatives. Formally mentor junior project managers, providing structured guidance, coaching, and development support.
