Main responsibilities

The overall purpose and main responsibilities are listed below: To create synergies and provide functional and operational leadership to the Scientific Engagement and Communications activities for General Medicine and Vaccines operations across various therapeutic areas (TAs) and processes so that cost savings ≥10 mil euros are achieved with deliveries optimized through multi-layered teams.

  • People: (1) Lead team of writers (junior to Group Lead) in content creation along with corresponding operations team (content enhancement/copyediting)/operations team, including but not limited to project specialists (junior to Project Manager) or similar roles (2) Coach and develop Group/Team Lead, expert and senior writers or similar roles (on content /methods /processes) (3) Maintain effective relationship with the end stakeholders (medical scientific community) across TA(s)/GBU(s) and products – with an end objective to develop education and communication content as per requirements (4) Ensure new technologies are leveraged for multilayered team management and development: Talent review, recruitment, succession planning, preparing and validating KPIs and metric

  • Performance: (1) Act as strategic thought partner to multiple TAs across GBU(s) (2) Develop and maintain expertise in multiple TA(s) and on key trends/developments in the industry (3) Provide inputs for publication and communication plans/publication and medical education materials/other strategic deliverables, and ensure delivery as per plan (agreed timelines and quality) (4) Lead and support development of tools, technology, and processes in order to constantly improve quality and productivity

  • Process: (1) Support delivery of projects in terms of resourcing, quality, timeliness, efficiency, and high technical standards for deliveries made by the scientific communications group, including scientific documents and clinical/medical reports (2) Contribute to overall quality enhancement by ensuring high scientific standards for the output produced by the scientific communications group (3) Secure adherence to compliance procedures and internal/operational risk controls in accordance with any and all applicable regulatory standards (4) Ensure all publication and medical education deliverables are delivered as per agreed timelines and quality (5) Ensure creation and development of tools, technology, and processes to constantly improve quality and productivity (6) Ensure advanced training delivery tools and techniques are leveraged thereby enhancing the effectiveness of training delivery

  • Stakeholder: (1) Maintain effective relationship with the end stakeholders (medical scientific community) with an end objective to develop education and communication content as per requirement (2) Partner with Medical Leads, Scientific Communication Directors and other global or local teams to implement governance in place (4) Ensure design and implementation of overall plan of action (CAPA) basis stakeholder feedback and improve stakeholder connect and team performance (5) Work with selected vendor partners or build internal capability to deliver the required deliverables or solutions as per defined process to meet business question (6) Interact effectively with external stakeholders and peer groups from industry to build network among peer groups

About you

  • Soft skills: Stakeholder management; communication skills; people management; and ability to influence and negotiate

  • Technical skills: Relevant training/experience with proficiency in the following areas: Scientific communications, Stakeholder management, Project management. Therapeutic area/domain knowledge exposure – Proficient in multiple therapy areas/domains under GBU(s) and experience of Publication planning, is desirable

  • Languages: Excellent knowledge of English language (spoken and written)
