Within Sanofi, the Procurement function is a powerhouse maximizing savings to fund the company’s future growth. The Chief Procurement Officer is reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, member of the Sanofi executive committee. The Procurement organization is divided into five Domains (Manufacturing & Supply, Marketing & Sales, Professional Services, Scientific & Medical and Digital) leveraging Global Procurement Operations and the Procurement Transformation & Excellence team. 

The yearly spend coverage is around 15B€ with a special focus on Procurement Excellence, Supplier Diversity and Sustainability. Closely collaborating with Finance, Business Operations and Business Units, Procurement is instrumental in achieving cost efficiency and savings. Procurement plays a critical role in optimizing Business Operating Income (BOI) impact with a focus on driving simplification, efficiency, and productivity. It forges strategic partnerships with suppliers, prioritizing innovation and data driven solutions. 

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to join our team as the Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) & Strategy Framework Lead. Reporting directly into the Head of Procurement Framework & Strategy, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our Procurement function, bringing best practices, driving innovation, and ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

Main responsibilities:

Category Strategy Process

  • Support the development of robust category strategies across multiple categories, ensuring consistency with organizational standards.
  • Advise Global Lead Buyers (GLBs) and incorporate feedback from CPO strategy reviews to continuously improve the Category Strategy Playbook.
  • Identify process optimization opportunities, including technology solutions, to reduce administrative burden and enable strategic focus.
  • Deliver training on Category Strategy frameworks for Procurement teams and other stakeholders.
  • Manage project timelines to ensure completion of Category Strategy Gate Reviews and scheduling of CPO reviews.
  • Lead communication efforts to drive adoption and understanding of Category Strategy processes.

Supplier Relationship Process

  • Drive the deployment of the Supplier Relationship Playbook and SupRM (SRM tool) across the Procurement organization, ensuring alignment with global standards.
  • Provide strategic guidance to Key Supplier Managers (KSMs) to strengthen Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) practices. Lead updates to Preferred Supplier lists and enrich spend data (including SRM segmentation and KSM assignments) in collaboration with Procurement Services.
  • Design and deliver training programs on the Supplier Management Playbook for Procurement teams and relevant stakeholders.
  • Oversee governance and tracking of SRM activities across all procurement domains; monitor and report Supplier Management KPIs.
  • Lead communication initiatives to support global rollout and engagement on Supplier Management processes.

Continuous Improvement

  • Establish a system for ongoing evaluation and enhancement of procurement frameworks, leveraging stakeholder feedback and market intelligence.
  • Monitor industry trends and emerging best practices; attend conferences and peer forums to benchmark and innovate.
  • Engage with procurement teams to identify pain points and opportunities that enable buyers to focus on strategic priorities.
  • Explore and implement technology-driven solutions, including AI, to streamline procurement processes and improve efficiency.

Overall Framework Team Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the Procurement Framework team’s mission of optimizing procurement operations through strategic initiatives and process improvements.
  • Operate in a collaborative, project-based environment, supporting team priorities and cross-functional objectives.
  • Represent the Procurement Framework team in Europe, ensuring alignment and visibility of global initiatives.
  • Actively participate in the One Procurement Technology Steering Committee, shaping technology strategy and roadmap for the function.

 About you

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
  • Master’s degree or MBA preferred.

Experience:

  • 10+ years of procurement experience, including category strategy development and supplier relationship management.
  • Proven track record in global process design and implementation.
  • Consulting experience preferred.

Soft and technical skills:

  • Strong communication and change management skills; adept at delivering training and creating impactful presentations.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a data-driven approach.
  • Influential leadership and interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate effectively at all levels, including exposure to the Chief Procurement Officer.

Languages:

  • Fluent English required.
  • Multilingual proficiency preferred.

Travel expected: 10%
