Sanofi has recently embarked into a vast and ambitious digital transformation program. A cornerstone of this roadmap is the acceleration of its data transformation and of the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) solutions, to accelerate R&D, manufacturing and commercial performance and bring better drugs and vaccines to patients faster, to improve health and save lives.

The R&D Data & AI Products and Platforms Team is a key team within R&D Digital, focused on developing and delivering Data and AI products for R&D use cases. This team plays a critical role in pursuing broader democratization of data across R&D and providing the foundation to scale AI/ML, advanced analytics, and operational analytics capabilities.

As a Head of R&D Data Products, you will be a leader of a dynamic team committed to driving strategic and operational digital priorities and initiatives in R&D. You will lead the overall strategy and development of data products within R&D. You will establish a clear vision and roadmap for R&D Data and AI products, ensuring alignment with broader organizational and business goals. You will also work closely with Data Product Line Owners and delivery teams to provide direction, leadership, and enabling capabilities. You will serve a critical role in enabling Sanofi’s development of new technologies in strategic alignment with R&D and broader business units.

Main Responsibilities:

Vision & Strategy:

• Establish a clear vision and supplemental roadmap for R&D Data/AI Products, ensuring alignment with broader organizational / business goals and R&D objectives

• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholder to provide recommendations on digital solutions and ensure that resources within the team are allocated against

• Provide recommendations to governance boards on strategic investments within Data & AI products

Stakeholder Management & Collaboration:

• Coordinate and manage relationships with cross-functional leaders and teams across the organization

• Communicate data and AI product vision, strategy, roadmap, Progress, and changes to senior cross-functional leadership and stakeholders

Data & AI Product Delivery Management & Oversight:

• Manage demand and allocate resources and capital across product lines and delivery pods effectively to ensure timely delivery of Data/AI Products and efficient use of resources

• Oversee, coordinate, and drive the outcomes and activities delivered by the R&D Data/AI Products team, owning the overall execution of the cross R&D roadmap

• Oversee enabling team in development of key centralized, enabling capabilities, including best practices, standard ways of working, value realization, and operational governance

• Triage, manage, and mitigate escalated issues and risks

• Evaluate reports on KPIs and metrics to measure the success and impact of Data/AI Products and communicate value to senior leadership and customers

• Manage any partners and vendors that are a part of R&D Data/AI Product delivery

• Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in product management and data analytics

• Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning within the Data & AI Products team

About You

Key Functional Requirements & Qualifications:

• Experience in leading cross-functional teams and managing complex projects or programs

• Familiarity with emerging trends in AI, data platforms, analytics, and their implications for product strategy

• Ability to translate complex business challenges into scalable, data-driven product solutions

• Experience leading and working with cross-functional teams either within Pharma R&D or product development

• Adept at fostering collaboration between technical and business stakeholders to align on priorities and desired outcomes

• Exceptional communication and storytelling skills to convey and influence vision, strategy, and progress to senior leadership and stakeholders

Key Technical Requirements & Qualifications:

• Deep understanding of modern data architecture, AI/ML technologies, and best practices for product development and lifecycle management

• Ability to design and manage end to end data pipelines (ingestion, ETL/ELT processes, data storage, etc.) using tools like Airflow, Snowflake, AWS

• Strong understanding of R&D business and data environment (including regulations, processes, usage, data types)

• Deep understanding of data pipelines and workflows and how to derive value from data to solve business challenges
