We are seeking a motivated Scientist to join our BioAnalytics Characterization group in the Genomic Medicine Unit within Sanofi. We are looking for a leader in the field of bioanalytical mass spectrometry who will drive product characterization and understanding for our AAV and targeted mRNA/LNP modalities, to facilitate clinical product development. The Genomic Medicine Unit at Sanofi is dedicated to the establishment of best-in-class platforms to support development of life-changing advanced cell and gene therapy products, including recombinant AAV vectors and lipid nanoparticles. The BioAnalytics Characterization group uses advanced analytical techniques for in-depth structural and functional characterization of gene therapy products in support of drug development, from pre-candidate selection through commercialization.

Main Responsibilities:

• Identify analytical gaps, develop and implement advanced characterization strategies for gene therapy candidates, including viral vectors and nonviral particles

• Establish high-throughput and automated LC-MS platforms for intact protein, peptide mapping and host cell protein (HCP) analysis

• Lead LC-MS characterization of lipid nanoparticles including lipid impurity and mRNA analysis

• Collaborate cross functionally and support process/formulation development through comprehensive LC-MS characterization (intact protein analysis, peptide mapping, HCP analysis, sequence variant analysis)

• Perform analytical characterization for batch release, reference standards, structure-function studies, stress studies and comparability assessments

• Develop sensitive proteomics platforms for HCP profiling and quantitative LC-MRM/PRM methods

• Collaborate cross-functionally and lead structure/function studies for critical quality attribute assessment

• Explore LC-MS protein quantitation methods for in vitro potency evaluation

• Author technical documentation including reports, protocols, and regulatory filings (IND/IMPD)

• Contribute to scientific literature and present at internal and external conferences

• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to early-career scientists

About You

Basic Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

• Ph.D. in Biochemistry or Chemistry-related field with 7+ years of industry experience, OR

• M.S. with 11+ years of industry experience, OR

• B.S. with 12+ years of industry experience

Technical Expertise:

• Extensive LC-MS experience in protein characterization, identification and protein quantitation

• Proficiency with Thermo/AbSciex instruments and peptide mapping/proteomics software (Biopharmafinder, Genedata Expressionist, Protein Metrics, Skyline, Proteome Discoverer)

• Demonstrated success implementing novel analytical technologies
