About the job
The Data Classification, Standards & Definitions Partner is the operational data partner enabling trusted Workday data across Organization Management, Position Management, and Workplace domains. The role translates governance decisions into actionable data assets, supports workforce planning, analytics, and AI initiatives, and leads the Organization Partners Network as a community of practice. It requires strong analytical capabilities, business understanding, and close collaboration with the HCM Global Process Owner, Data Foundation Team, Global Process Owners, Organizational Design, M&A Teams, People Services, Data & Insights Team and Finance.
This role is focused on Workday organizational and positional data - including Organization Management, Position Management, workplace structures, and organizational hierarchies. The partner supports the HCM Global Process Owner's data ownership responsibilities through expert partnership, documentation, and governance execution across these domains.
Main Responsibilities:
Data Asset Management & Documentation
• Translate governance decisions into usable, consistent data assets
• Document approved definitions and DQ rules
• Maintain data catalog, glossary, lineage, and definitions
• Ensure data consistency and traceability
Data Classification & Governance
• Classify data assets and manage data sharing agreements, ensure data readiness
• Document and work on global data standards and data quality rules
• Define and maintain data quality rules for master data elements
• Enable data for Data Foundation; act as key SME for scope of domain
• Run global data quality training and initiatives
• Understand and apply foundational GDPR principles and data classification sensitivity levels; collaborate with the Data Protection Officer (DPO) on privacy-related matters where applicable
Master Data Management
• Provide data partnership for master data entities within organizational and positional data domains
• Provide business partnership on data modelling activities, ensuring organizational and positional data models reflect business requirements and governance standards in People Data Foundations
Workday Configuration & Root Cause Analysis
• Investigate root causes of data quality issues in Workday (not just detect)
• Analyze and provide improvements to Workday configurations impacting global standardization
Stakeholder Support & Collaboration
• Act as key point of contact for domain knowledge on Organization & Position Management data
• Support HCM Global Process Owner in data ownership activities for position and workplace data
• Collaborate with Data Foundation Team, Global Process Owners, Organizational Design, and M&A Teams
• Support Data & Insights Team and analysts on relevant data matters to enable trusted reporting and analytics
• Collaborate with the Digital Team on data configuration matters, providing expertise on data-related aspects and ensuring alignment between system configurations and data governance standards
• Support Tech Strategy Team on Workday and AI developments where data quality is key to success, providing data expertise to support strategic technology initiatives
• Run, train, and engage the Organization Partners Network
About you
• 3–5 years in data governance or data management in Workday or Reporting and Analytics
• Workday HCM Certified (must) - specifically Organization Management and Position Management modules
• Experience in data classification, cataloging, and business glossary management
• Knowledge of data catalog tools (e.g., Informatica, Collibra, Alation, Microsoft Purview) as a business-side SME
• Strong understanding of data quality frameworks and root cause analysis
• Strong data analysis skills with ability to analyze large volumes of data to identify patterns, anomalies, and quality issues
• Business acumen and understanding of HR/organizational processes and how data supports business outcomes
• Understanding of foundational GDPR principles and data classification sensitivity levels; works in collaboration with the DPO on privacy-related matters
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills across global, cross-functional teams
• Experience facilitating communities of practice or stakeholder networks
• Experience with master data management principles and practices for organizational and HR data
• Knowledge of Snowflake as a data platform, understanding how organizational and positional data is stored and consumed
