People Services Payroll Intern

Position Overview
At Sanofi, we chase the miracles of science to improve people lives — and behind every employee who drives that mission is a People Services team making sure they are supported, paid accurately, and empowered to do their best work.
As a People Services Payroll Intern, you will be embedded in a dynamic, regional HR operations environment where you will gain hands-on exposure to end-to-end payroll processes, HR generalist activities, and employee lifecycle support. This is not a passive internship — you will contribute meaningfully to real projects, work alongside experienced HR professionals, and develop a strong foundation in both payroll operations and broader People Services functions.

Key Responsibilities
Payroll Operations
Assist in the preparation, validation, and processing of monthly payroll data across assigned countries or business units
Support reconciliation of payroll inputs including new hires, terminations, salary changes, and allowances
Help maintain payroll records and ensure data accuracy within HR and payroll systems (e.g. SAP, Workday)
Assist in responding to employee payroll queries through the HR ticketing system (OneSupport), ensuring timely and accurate resolution
Support statutory compliance activities including tax filings, social security contributions, and regulatory reporting
Participate in payroll audits and data quality checks to ensure integrity of employee pay data
Assist in preparing payroll reports and dashboards for internal stakeholders
People Services / PS Generalist Support
Support the employee lifecycle processes including onboarding, offboarding, contract changes, and job data updates in the HRIS
Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date employee records in compliance with data privacy regulations (GDPR and local equivalents)
Help coordinate HR documentation such as employment letters, confirmation letters, and certificates of employment
Support the team in responding to general HR inquiries from employees and managers via the HR service portal
Participate in HR process improvement initiatives, helping to identify inefficiencies and propose solutions
Assist in preparing HR metrics and reports for management review
Contribute to knowledge base updates and standard operating procedure (SOP) documentation
Enhance Documentation Records
Support ad hoc HR projects and initiatives as assigned by the People Services team

Developed working knowledge of HRIS platforms and HR data management best practices
Built confidence in employee query management and HR service delivery
Understood statutory and regulatory compliance requirements related to payroll and employment
Experienced cross functional collaboration within a regional People Services team
Strengthened your analytical and reporting skills through real data and dashboards
Gained exposure to HR process improvement methodologies and tools
Developed a professional network within Sanofi global HR community
Required Qualifications
Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Strong numerical aptitude and attention to detail
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, basic formulas)
Good written and verbal communication skills in English
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
A proactive, curious mindset with a genuine interest in HR and payroll operations
Ability to communicate in additional languages (Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin, Japanese) is an advantage
