The CHC Legal Team aims to serve as trusted partners to the business, enabling its sustainable growth while caring for consumers and people, all while protecting Sanofi's independence.

We do so by delivering qualitative and timely legal advice, optimizing processes and resources, spotting trends and shaping the external environment, leveraging on local legal teams and sharing accountability with the business for successes and failures.

Embracing these principles is key to succeed in the position. Role modelling Sanofi's Play to Win behaviours is another critical attribute.

Key Accountabilities:

Global responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the regional CHC business leadership team.

  • Contribute proactively to the CHC Legal Leadership Team, keeping the global team informed on critical developments in the region.

  • Deliver high-quality, cost-effective, and timely legal services across the region, managing legal and regulatory risk and assuring compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, standards, and policies.

  • Establish adequate governance and local legal support, either through an external network where there is no in-house resource or through the recruitment, management, retention, and development of local legal in-house talent.

  • Define and implement the region's legal strategies; responsibly managing the region's legal budget (internal and external legal costs).

  • Design, select, manage and evaluate the regional outside counsel network, with an aim to consolidate in one firm as a "one stop shop", all legal counsel needs of the region.

Local responsibilities

  • Render effective and thoughtful advice to the Regional CHC leadership team.

  • Provide legal support to CHC teams on their daily operations, to ensure the achievement of business goals compliantly.

  • Advise and assist on a wide range of business law matters such as contracting, supply manufacturing, digital, data privacy, among others.

  • Support on authorities' investigations and inspections (excluding compliance topics managed by the EBI team) relating to CHC operations.

  • Manage CHC third party claims, disputes and litigations.

  • Ensure abidance to your legal budget.

  • Oversee outside counsel, including selection, budgeting, management and evaluation.

  • Drive legal executional excellence through simplification initiatives, optimization of ways of working, leveraging on technology -if applicable- locally and potentially globally

  • Contribute and assist in drafting and implementing policies, providing relevant trainings to CHC teams

  • Spot legal trends, update CHC business teams on changes in the regulation and industry codes that might impact the local CHC business operations.

  • Shape the local legal environment, representing Sanofi CHC in local legal or industry Forums.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally within and outside the CHC GBU with other legal experts, EBI, business functions and teams in priority projects stretching beyond your local role.

KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

  • Internal: business partners, Legal, ethics, and Business Integrity teams within and outside the GBU at the global and local levels.

  • External: competent authorities, third parties -including public and private institutions-external law firms/counselors and trade associations.

  • Competent negotiator

  • Having sound judgment and analytical skills, maintaining high professional ethics, integrity, composure, and determination.

  • Adaptability to embrace a dynamic and diverse working environment

Language skills

Possess excellent written, oral communication, and presentation skills in English.

Cultural traits / P2W Behavior

  • Push to go beyond the level we have operated until now: you should always strive to challenge the current state of things and prioritize your efforts towards achieving the best outcomes. We should not tolerate mediocrity and believe that we can always do better. Our goals should be ambitious, but never at the cost of our values and judgment.

  • Put the interests of the organization ahead of those of their team. Consider both short-term and long-term impacts of decisions and prioritize collective and global goals above individual or local goals. Share resources and capabilities with those who have the greatest need and impact, and enable decision-making at the appropriate level.

  • Act in the interest of our patients and customers: actively engage with customers to know their current and future needs; brings an external perspective into decisions

  • It is important to be proactive and not wait for instructions. Make smart and informed decisions based on the information available to you and consider the potential outcomes of your actions.
