About the job
Our Team:
The Data and Computational Sciences group is a growing team within the Sanofi mRNA Center of Excellence (CoE). Our team is dedicated to bringing end-to-end data integration and advanced analytics (pre-clinical, biomarkers, process development, CMC, clinical) to the mRNA CoE. We are responsible for deploying and exploiting digital solutions (AI/machine learning, data, analytics) to integrate the full data value chain; extracting actionable information for a move to a full data driven strategy and decision-making process; and making data and insights accessible throughout the CoE. Our north star purpose is to increase the probability of success and to accelerate mRNA vaccines and therapeutics development and launch.
Main responsibilities:
In this role, you will:
- Develop computational pipelines (e.g., with Nextflow, Snakemake, or WDL) for a variety of Research and Development applications, with particular focus on in vitro and in vivo mRNA screening assays; next-generation sequencing (NGS) data and analysis; and the design, assembly, and quality control (QC) of pDNA and mRNA vaccines and therapeutics
- Create both one-off and reusable scripts for exploratory analysis, QC checking, and assay assessment
- Document outputs/artifacts to enable usage/execution/understanding by other personnel
- Create compelling visual representations of data and analytics results in support of presentation, communication, and decision-making needs for key stakeholders
- Provide support for experimental results using data analytic and/or machine learning techniques
- Demonstrate good software engineering practices
- Represent the mRNA CoE Data and Computational Science team in platform and project technical teams as subject matter expert
- Proactively identify, assess, and internalize emerging technologies and methods
About you
- B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or related fields or equivalent experience
- Have a basic understanding of different types of NGS assays
- Experience with NGS data/statistical analysis, with a preference for topics such as exploratory analysis and -omics data (e.g., ribosome profiling)
- Experience with machine learning, such as development of regression/classification models and deep learning models, is preferred but not required
- Familiarity with cloud and parallel computing
- Comfortable with one or more common data analysis and visualization platforms (e.g., R, RShiny, Python/pandas) and bioinformatics packages (Bioconductor, Biopython, etc.)
- Comfortable engaging with stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds and working collaboratively towards a common goal
- Adept at communication and adaptation
- Willing to train individuals and teams on your areas of expertise and on systems you build
- Fluency in English; Fluency in French is a plus
About your development opportunities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to lead product optimization and development, and coordinate information exchange between cross-functional experimental and computational teams. If you take this position, you will be gaining exposure to the development of RNA-based vaccines and therapies by contributing to cutting-edge work that has the potential to meaningfully impact millions of lives around the world. You should expect to be presented with challenging work in a supportive environment and to be engaging with highly competent peers with a drive to make a difference. You will also have a chance to branch out into new areas of analysis and subject matters which you may not have previously encountered. If you have a diversity of interests and enjoy creating impactful end-to-end solutions, this position will be a great fit for you.
