The mandate of the Global Innovation Franchise, Strategy and Market Access (GIFSA) within General Medicines is to drive innovation and strategic thinking with the aim to change the practices of medicine and bring transformative therapies to patients. The Franchise executes on its ambition to build sustainable leadership in aT1D and Transplant, and to explore opportunities in areas with high unmet need and/or white spaces through game changing organic and inorganic innovation.
The General Medicines Strategy & New Product Planning (SNPP) Team within GIFSA helps create the opportunity for building and articulating the strategy for the General Medicines GBU.
The SNPP team leads and develops the creation of the General Medicines annual strategy and coordinates the execution of key transversal strategic initiatives, as well as identifies and champions product innovation opportunities, and ultimately develops plans for both internally and externally sourced innovation for Gen Med TAs or adjacencies.
The SNPP Team Mission is to bring in ground-breaking product innovation that solve patient unmet needs and create significant value for Sanofi. The Strategy Lead role is member of the Global Strategy & New Product Planning team and focuses on the following key areas:
- Drives and supports the process to develop (together with key stakeholders and senior leaders across functions/business areas) anindustry leading strategy for General Medicines to deliver best strategic value to Sanofi
- Supports the execution and monitoring of the General Medicines Strategy (short- to long-term) across the General Medicines Organization, acting as a strong thought partner
- Leads/participates in ground-breaking strategic projects and/or project workstreams to drive innovation aligned with General Medicines and Sanofi´s strategy
- Plays a key role in cross functional, and cross BU collaboration and alignment
Main responsibilities:
Drives and supports the process to develop an industry leading strategy for General Medicines:
- Leads the annual strategic planning exercise for General Medicines
- Helps shape a clear, compelling, and consistent vision and narrative for General Medicines
- Defines the strategic questions and leads/supports the problem-solving in collaboration with the business
- Performs analysis of various business relevant information and data, consolidates content, and prepares those for senior leaders’ discussions and decision making
- Provides insights and recommendations to support decision making processes
- Supports and creates presentations for senior leaders tailored to different target groups (e.g., ExCom, Board); visualizes and contextualizes complex concepts/situations
- Works with Corporate Strategy to ensure alignment and consistency with the Group strategy
Supports the execution and monitoring of the General Medicines Strategy across the Organization:
- Leads the identification process of the annual GBU priorities and translates those into meaningful and measurable OKRs and KPIs
- Drives and supports the quarterly monitoring process of the priorities and OKRs
- Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of strategic initiatives and makes recommendations for adjustments
- Supports the process of learning exchanges across different teams
Leads/participates in ground-breaking strategic projects and/or project workstreams:
- Leads and drives cross-functional projects pivotal for the GBU
- Synergizes with and supports the New Product Planning Team in competitive intelligence awareness, business development and M&A sourcing
- (Co)Leads the assessment of business cases
Plays a key role in cross functional, and cross BU collaboration and alignment and champions agile ways of working:
- Secures strong collaboration, continuous exchange and alignment across functions and divisions (i.e. GTMC, Franchises, BD&L, M&S, P&C, Medical Affairs, Public Affairs, etc.)
- Secures strong collaboration and continuous exchange with Finance and Corporate Strategy to secure alignment and consistency with Group strategy
- Leads and facilitates cross-functional workshops at various levels on key strategic topics, partnering with the business, identifying gaps and connecting dots
- Secures to stay informed about trends in strategy & analytics and healthcare overall
- Fosters a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the organization
About you
Key skills & experience required:
- Leadership skills:Required to influence outcomes, communicate and collaborate with all levels of the organization, and facilitate the development of solutions to address critical business needs
- Communication and stakeholder management:Ability to communicate effectively with senior executives, senior leaders, and technical and scientific experts to bring new points of view. Highly competent in both oral and written communication
- Presentation skills:Ability to present ideas clearly and persuasively to various stakeholders. Ability to craft powerful storylines/narratives and to simplify and visualize complex concepts/topics/situations
- Agility and flexibility:Ability to manage ambiguity and uncertainty, combined with a bias to action. High learning agility
- Strategic thinking:Background in strategic planning, strategy formulation, and/or portfolio management is a plus
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving:Competence in dealing with detailed analytics and demonstrating 'big picture' thinking
- Project leadership:Demonstrated success in leading projects with thought leadership and executional excellence
- Collaboration:Working closely with various internal and external stakeholders
- Influence:Ability to drive partnerships and solutions
- Accountability:Taking responsibility for outcomes and ensuring progress
- Personal development:Commitment to continuous learning and improvement
- Business acumen:Understanding the business and clinical ecosystem to identify insights and drive strategic decisions
Other skills:
- Experience:Several years (8+) of professional business experience in the life sciences industry with past exposure to consulting and/or strategic commercial roles(likely in roles such as: Strategy Consultant, Portfolio Planning, Finance, Market Access, BD&L, Marketing, etc.).Strategic consulting experience preferred
- Education:Advanced Degree (PhD in Life Sciences, MD, Vet, Pharm D) and/or in Business Administration or similar
- Languages:fluent/proficiency in English
